No state has a right to exist. True.

Nor does Palestine have a right to exist.

Nor does Israel have a right to exist. But it does have a right to defend itself. (And even if it doesn't, so what? It has, is, and will defend itself.)

Conflict, usually bloody, determines borders, not right.

Hamas may succeed. Hamas might fail. Battle will decide.

In the meantime, consider that, at the time of the establishment of Israel (equivalently the Nakba), 750,000 or so Arabs lost their homes. At the same time, 900,000 of their Jewish neighbors in the Middle East lost their homes. And here's what I find particularly interesting: 10,000 Arabs (including soldiers and civilians) were killed. 6,000 Jews were killed.

By historical and global standards the death toll was tiny. The event was essentially a loss of property, not lives -- and both lives and property lost were matched on each side.

Many Islamic scholars believe the Quran states that Israel is the homeland of the Jews. They also point out the Muhammad had two Jewish wives, was not anti-Jew, and believed Israel belonged to the Jews. Hatred of Israel and Jews is not part of Islam.

Israel is the least apartheid country in the Middle East. 20% of its population (1.7 million people) are Arab Muslims, including an Israeli Supreme Court Justice. Those Arab Muslim Israeli citizens can choose to defend Israel or not. Many choose to fight for Israel. Muslim Arab women have more freedom in Israel than anywhere else in the Middle East. So do Muslim Arab gays.

No society in the Middle East is more free than Israel.

And, what you mainly fail to realize, is that Hamas and Islamic extremists do not hate only Israelis and Jews. They hate all non-Muslims, as well as Muslims that disagree with them.

Were I you, I would hope they fail.
